Client
Objectives

Create a product to help build public recognition and awareness for the Canadian Hearing Society.
Role &
Scope
Working as the creative lead, I was partnered with a copywriter and project manager. We had to work closely with a linguistic specialist from the client side to make sure we captured all facets of the hearing spectrum. We presented the idea of using video games as the backbone for content delivery. The idea needed to be simple and unique for various age groups to be consistently engaged.
I was responsible for leading the overall art direction for the website and gaming portion, as well as creating from the ground up, the user experience, all creative assets for the web and working closely with the developer and client to ensure highest quality of work.
Custom avatars are created based on how the user fills out the sign up form.

Design
Process
✅ Meet with stakeholders and client to determine target audience, scope of work and goals. The target audience would range from young kids to adults, all ranging in various forms of hearing and education levels.
✅ Develop the idea of gamification as the driving force for lessons and knowledge delivery. The basic idea and inspiration came from old classic video games such as Super Mario World and Monkey Island — Allow the user to traverse various landscapes while learning tidbits of information along the way. Unique levels and scenarios are presented depending on the avatar the user creates.
✅ Create the UX/UI for the website and game.
✅ Develop and design overall art work and illustrations for customizable avatars, play-through environments and website creative.
✅ Design final layouts for web and game portion ensuring compatibility for both desktop and mobile experiences.
✅ Software used throughout the project included Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, G Suite, Microsoft Office and good old pen and paper.
